We show some tips for traveling to China.
Visa for China
Who does need to apply for Chinese visa?
Citizens of Singapore, Brunei and Japan holding ordinary passports may enter China without a visa through the ports of entry open to foreigners provided that they come to China for tourism, family visit, business or transit, and intend to stay in China for no more than 15 days.
If you are citizen of other country, you may need to apply for Chinese visa.
Please check how to apply for your Chinese visa on China embassy website and China visa application center.
144-Hour China transit visa exemption
There is a special visa exemption scheme. Though there are many regulations (nationality, way to enter/leave China, area you can go) to apply for it, you may look into it.
Please check out Interpretation of the 144-Hour Visa-Exemption Transit Policy.
VPN
The Great Firewall blocks all access to Google, Facebook etc. If you want to use them in China, we recommend purchasing a VPN before traveling.
At least, we recommend you to install some free VPN before travelling. Otherwise, you cannot access VPN applications themselves from China.
Here are popular VPN services for China:
- Express VPN
- Astrill
- VyprVPN (iOS version is blocked nowadays…)
Power plug
In China the power plugs and sockets are of type A, C and I. The standard voltage is 220 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
